On first impression, Swift Wind is brash and boisterous, with a sense for dramatic flair (often timing his entrances into conversation for maximum effect). The fact he is a talking, flying horse already sets him apart in a crowd, so he makes no effort to blend in or downplay that fact. He thrives in the center of attention. He has a particularly optimistic outlook, likes to cut loose and have fun, is easily excitable, and is always looking for ways to cheer people up. Whether it is participating in an impromptu singing number, or reminding those around him of the little joys in life (like apples, hay, and toppling unjust hierarchies), Swift Wind always makes an effort to lighten the mood when others are feeling down. Because of this, he is sometimes seen as an annoying goofball, though he always means well.
Swift Wind is bold and doesn’t hesitate to speak his mind no matter who he is speaking to, making demands for an audience with Queen Angella mere moments after meeting her. He rarely ever minces words or sugarcoats a bad situation. However, that acknowledgement doesn’t mean he sees bad situations as hopeless, rather the contrary. Swift Wind is a natural optimist, and refuses to be discouraged when things look bleak. He is confident not only in his own abilities but those of his friends, and trusts they’ll be able to find a way through their problems.
While he shares a particularly deep emotional bond with Adora as her steed, Swift Wind cares about all those around him he considers comrades and allies, and will do whatever he can to support them, especially if it means not doing so would put them at greater risk. Swift Wind is compassionate and makes a point to make sure those around him are doing well, even when others don’t think to (including frequently visiting the reclusive Madame Razz to make sure the old woman is doing ok).
Beneath his lighthearted attitude, Swift Wind has a strong sense of responsibility and duty. As She-Ra’s steed, he will do anything he can to support her and protect her, viewing their destinies as intertwined and seeing it as part of his job to share her burdens and protect Etheria. He is a dedicated member of the rebellion, and is respected enough to participate in war council and strategy meetings. Swift Wind has a strong moral code, and believes in equality for everyone (particularly horse-kind). He has no qualms taking necessary action to right injustices where he sees them and demanding change from whoever is in charge. It’s his belief that if you have the ability to help others, you should, and he treasures the fact he was given the chance to “make the world better than he found it.” This sense of service to others is one of his primary motivations.
